there’s a lot about fatherhood - but what about birth partnership ?
You’ve probably heard the old adage that goes something like: “Motherhood starts at conception, fatherhood starts at birth”.
While the statement is itself true, it reflects a commonly held value throughout our society that as men, we’re really just bystanders, or at the best helpers, until baby is born.
But what about the 9.5 months before that?
The result of our societal approach is that we have women who are journeying alone, with men who desire to step up, but don’t have the vision, motivation, or the support to do so. Let’s change that.
Here at Doula Dad, we’re starting a new conversation. What if we actually have an active and deeply impactful role to play in the entire journey from pregnancy to labor to delivery and even to postpartum? What if our level of initiative and engagement actually has a measurable impact on our partner’s birth experience and outcomes? What if its not just about fatherhood, but about deepening our bond with our partners as we navigate this crazy experience together?
If you’re a man and your partner is pregnant - whether it’s your first kid or your fifth - come join us on the journey and let’s change the landscape of how men are engaging in the birth journey.
The problem
As men, we lack the vision, tools, and support needed to be excellent birth partners - and our partners pay the price
why we exist
We envision a world where women experience greater safety and more positive birth outcomes because their men shows up with confidence and competence throughout the entire birth journey
what we do
We empower men who are ready to step into birth partnership with confidence and competence by providing access to helpful resources, connection points with other men on the same journey, and opportunities to engage in conversations around our role in the birth journey
